Pt. 2 - The Onboarding Process
Sequence to why having a proper onboarding process is best practice.
In my last post, we talked about the onboarding process and why it’s important.
Today, we are going to talk about recommended training as part of your organization.
This may vary depending on the work you do and other mandatory training required by your organization, but here are a few things to keep in mind and consider implementing into your onboarding process and practices to consider to boost team morale.
1. Role specific training which includes duties, expectations and workflow.
2. Technical skills training which includes software systems, equipment use and digital tools, compliance training which consists of workplace safety and data collection, including confidentiality, and mentorship or having a buddy system to offer guidance and build relationships.
3. blended learning model that consists of some online training and peer-led session that is engaging and offers different learning styles
4. To support successful integration, it’s important to schedule regular check-ins and supervisions with staff, encourage participation in ongoing learning opportunities, reinforce the use of mentorship or buddy system, and provide opportunities to apply training to real-world examples.
5. Finally, recognizing staff success and contribution boosts morale. Team building lunches, social events, or virtual peer hang outs are some of the recommended activities that teams can participate in to engage staff and keep the morale amongst teams going.
